Just as well I do have thousands of tadpoles as the female blackbird has decided they make a tasty snack. Since they're only swimming in the shallowest part of the pond at the minute she doesn't even have to get her feet wet!

I bought one of those bird feeders that stick to the window a few months back, was an inexpensive ornament until today, finally got a visitor after nearly 3 months of waiting.

Most people seem to be saying it's a mild spring so you're probably right about the greenery

The bluebells are in full song here. My probably faulty memory has the spring flowers as a bit more sequential, albeit with an overlap.
Out on a ride yesterday, I saw the whole lot in full flower somewhere or another.
Campion, daffodils, stitchwort, wood anemones, cowslips, bluebells, cardamine, celandine and maybe some I forgot!

Lots of Goldfinches around here in the South Lakes at the moment-3 flew right in front of me on my ride yesterday and I saw another 4 near Ings on Monday.

It's a Black Oil Beetle.
Just been on the Bug Life website to confirm.

A pair of siskin have been visiting the garden feeders these last couple of days. Very pleasing as they've been only very occasional visitors before and we can't recall ever seeing a pair before.

Well would you believe it. I spent much of my childhood in Prixford, the next village south. Did my cycling with a 3 speed bike.........which made Guineaford hill interesting, and crossing Exmoor quite tiring. I know (knew) Marwood Gardens very well.
