‘Run Of The Mill’, But Curious For Some Reason

“Goodbye!”

Dropped off, but the usual (westbound) 40 minute journey took well over an hour, due to the usual west-bound pinch points on the M62
- Gildersome/jct 27
- ‘Chain Bar’/jct 26

Then within the distance of the eastbound ‘off slip’, there was a RTC, blocking all 3 lanes

Eastbound traffic was backed up past jct24/Ainley Top

Westbound was slowed greatly by ‘rubberneckers’
I dropped it off, in the southern outskirts of Halifax, SWMBO picked me up, telling me the eastbound M62 was now closed

So, a slightly busy detour through Huddersfield

We took a bit longer then expected, but at least we weren’t strapped to spinal-boards, like the poor drivers in the RTC

We’ll still see it, as it went to ‘senior managements’ niece

The DVLA 'You're No Longer Responsible For This Vehicle' notice arrived earlier this week

Wednesday 19th

Spotted on the ride home from work

Market Place
Normanton
Wakefield

Yes, it does state ‘Central Market’ on the arch, as it was built as such
The building to the right used to be the towns TSB bank

Unless they were attending to a member of the on-call staff, at Bobs?
They weren’t delivering straight to their Chapel Of Rest, as that’s at the rear of the building

However, there is a flat over the Florists

Sunday 28th

Whilst tidying out, under the eaves, via the ‘Bob-holes’ in the attic, l found a lot of my old photographs
Well, not really a case of finding, as l knew they were there

These 2 were at the top of the box

My old 300Tdi Hard-Top, & Joannes Starlet
(superceded by a Volvo 740 estate!)
I think that was possibly taken not long after returning from a week in Wales, with her brother & his g/f of the time
I have a few somewhere, of us driving/parked the 110, on Pendine Sands - when you could still do that

Apologies, they're just both 'photographs of photographs'

Back in 1999, we went on a cheap holiday, think someone might have even given us the tickets
It was a coach trip to around the Hayling Island/Portsmouth area
We decided, due to accommodation to ‘make our own way’ whilst there
We got the hovercraft to Ryde, hired this Golf & toured the island for 3 days, staying in various places

Then got back to the pick-up location about an hour before departure back to Yorkshire

Mrs Gunk had a Mk4 GTi new back in 2000. I know some are sniffy about the Mk4, I liked it, lovely interior and a really nice car to drive especially with the 1.8 turbo engine.

At such a time ago, I can't remember what engine that blue Golf had, as it was a rental car, but I liked it too!
Still my favourite Golf model

Spotted whilst walking dog yesterday
I drove back this way from the ‘tip’/recycling centre

Reliant Rialto
Unless it’s a Robin, with a newer front?
The rear plate was a ‘silver on black’, but l can’t remember the suffix

Just a couple of my old Chevette

Slack Lane ford
(now permanently blocked)
NewMillerDam
(off the A61)
Wakefield

It was dammed downstream by local kids, & could be deep enough to enter the cab of a friends Land-Rover 101FC
