I suggest ride by time, start early and factor in some emergency daylight . Carry lights and small backup lights.
Head out into the wind, and try and avoid monster climbs near the end.
If you have local railways to take you home, plan a bugout with timetables or even plan a ride out and rail home.
I used to ride a lot of 70 milers in winter, to the coast and back. I didnt have fancy equipment .
I would always carry a spare jumper, hat, bread bags for feet.
Rides like this are a matter of confidence in your ability and gear, which comes from experience. You can do some smaller rides to build up.
