All adverts are annoying and intrusive. I wouldn't willingly buy stuff from any firm who wastes money on TV advertising, especially get wound up by charities with national TV ad campaigns....

Rant over, and breathe. [Sorry!]

This thread is evidence that the advert works very well indeed.
Inasmuch as it's drawn attention to the product; but for all the wrong reasons.
Would you eat a product that looks like a giant A hole?
Hmmm.....come to think of it, I can think of one who would probably be tempted by it.

I was wondering (as I sometimes do) over Christmas.
If I was to give the requested amount of money for every single TV request for all the different charities over, say, a 72 hour period......how much that would cost me.
A lot I imagine

Treat charity adverts the same as any other. You wouldnt feel guilty for not buying a new bed/holiday/sofa everytime an advert came on.
Adverts are mostly about increasing brand awareness, if they didnt work companies wouldnt spend money on them.

Most adverts aren't selling you anything directly. They're making you aware of the brand so that when you say "Hmmm...I could really do with an xxxx", the brand you are aware of is one of those you are more likely to buy

The fact you say "wasn't that an awful advert for [insert brand name]" means that the advert has done its job, you've remembered it

I used to have a beautifully had sign written logo on my old Bedford Midi van.
My initials, surname Paving Specialist.

A bloke stopped and asked me if i could give him a quote to decorate his house!!!
I had a blank un- signed van for the rest of my business use use vans, saved on insurance and no thefts..
