I also got XL shorts but they're a bit baggy around the leg, so I probably need a Large. Anyone get a size large bib shorts? Thought about these but they generally come up small on me or I look like a gay porn star. They're marked 34"-36" and I'm a 35" waist (and reducing). There's some left so i may nip back today if anyone confirms they will fit.

I got the large bib shorts - fit me ok at 6'2" and 32" waist. I reckon they're on the generous side for me, so unless you're much shorter height wise, L should fit ok. Let me know if you want anything more precise and I'll take the office ruler to them ;)

I missed the boat yesterday...forgot all about this to be honest. I could do with a new computer 'cos mine is busted.
Riding to Pitsea (spits) in a thunderstorm to buy socks....hmm...now that IS dedication:biggrin:.....where did you leave your bike? If you left it outside that store in the car park I'd say the life expectancy of your bike could be measured in seconds.... used to work from an office above the 7/11 store there and we could watch the chavvy oiks nicking bikes & 'doing ' cars from there, we even had a police observation team join us for a few days once..

I was on the Brompton so took it in with me BTFB. Plenty of computers there at 7.00 pm last night so get down there! ;)

taking other comments into consideration, get the computer provided you don't mind it being calibrated in kph. the calorie counter is interesting, turns out i burned 220kcal on my 7km commute. bet that it seriously underestimates the figure on a serious cimb though.

The socks are really good. Not overly impressed with the underwear. The material is comfy enough, but didn't like the padding. Top is fab too.

i took the bib shorts back, the chamois pad is just all wrong, however the shorts seem to be ok, the pad comes further up the front ??

Bonj, darling,

that picture shows the bike wearing the clipless pedals that it still has on today.

not proper clipless pedals.

Been and bought stuff twice now, you make a judgement when you get there.I've not been disapppointed with anything.

If I was bothered about falling off I'd buy a pressure suit or wear my 'Race' MTB armour. I bought the stuff to stay warm. If I fall off I damage a £15 jacket instead of a £50 one.

ah, well that's it you see - you DON'T damage it. I've fallen off before trying to jump off the top of a raised manhole cover and managed to graze my arm THROUGH my jacket which was completely unscathed! That's why I like my seventy quid jacket (fwiw it's the one you know coming down porter clough into endcliffe park just after one of the road crossings (i think clough lane or hangram lane) - nasty off camber landing if you don't manage to hop off it)

to be fair, the aldi jacket i did used to have was ok in terms of warmth and how well it fit. It wasn't ok in terms of waterproofness and the fact the zip bust.

I doubt they make it with any reference to the human anatomy.

Chris - did you manage to get some? I bought two pairs, but one will be going back (don't like them enough to keep two). If you want them, let me know before tomorrow, and they're yours for the original price + postage at cost.

Sorry Bonj is unavailable to confirm with you what is a clipless pedal and what is not as he is busy dispensing his perceived wisdom here.

Aw bless him.

What's a proper clipless pedal bonj?
one which isn't flat one side, i.e. that isn't only HALF a clipless pedal. It's meant to be a clipless pedal for people who are too scared to use clipless pedals, but in actual fact it's more difficult to use 'cos which side up it is is often totally random, often ending up with one foot clipped in and the other on flat, which is TOTALLY disconcerting. This is in complete contrast to road bike clipless pedals, which are single-sided because they only need to be single sided, and are weighted such that they hang in a manner which is easily flippable to the correct orientation.
Just get M647s and have done with it!

* Not weighted so often have to do a non-standard flipping motion, i.e. fiddle with it
* the disadvantages of single sided pedals without the advantages.

End of.

What if you're prepared to put up with having to do a 'non-standard flipping motion' so that you can, on occasion, hop on your bike and ride comfortably down the road for a couple of fresh croissants in your slippers?
They're still clipless pedals, since you don't need a clip. Where 'proper' comes into it I don't understand.

why would you want to cycle in slippers?

Where 'proper' comes into it, is that they're meant to be mountain bike pedals, and if, say, you went to an MTB trailcentre and hired a mountain bike and you asked for clipless pedals on it, and you got those, I think you'd be justified in being a little disappointed.

- if I was the manager and one of the staff had put those on a bike and the customer was complaining, I'd be quite embarassed and would have to apologise profusely - ergo, the bollocking being 'go and put proper clipless pedals on the customer's bike please!'
