I think I previously recounted the story that a housemate's grandad had sunk a German cruiser. This was a genuine story as he'd been interned on board at Scapa Flow during the Grand Scuttle and family legend was that he'd had the job of opening the sea cocks. Be that as it may he was genuinely on board and present at the time of the Scuttle. His cruiser, the Neu Nuremberg, was salvaged between the wars but I've dived on the 3 similar ships which remain there
