Totally agree. That smell is totally awesome, but unfortunately we only get it when the wind is from the south. Most of the rest of the time we just get the smell of sh*te off the farmers fields.

Until this thread I had never realised that Hull was in Yorkshire - it now makes sense.

Politically it's a Unitary Authority.

Back in the AFAIK 12th Century the local Bishop renamed the settlement at the mouth of the river Hull to 'Wyke'.
You can probably guess how well accepted that was with the locals at the time.
