Indeed. Cross posted. However, going by my cousins comments (he is a dealer) they are not a whole lot better.
Where is his dealership? Does he want to sell a car?
I travel a lot in Russia and Turkey, where most of the Taxis appear to be Dacia. Many have done huge mileages in harsh conditions (especially Russia) and they still seem well screwed together, comfortable, and the drivers rate the reliability.
Not heard any unfavourable reports of the Duster and Sandero (of course, they're not BMW 'quality').

Just had a browse on a Dacia forum, prompted by a bout of curiosity brought on by this thread.

It seems the Romanians themselves would rather not buy them.

Cool, they did go massively for the taxi market.

He is based in the north of Scotland in Moray.

Owners of recent model Skoda diesels in America have been given cause to regret their decision this week.

Nah, you go for what you want. I buy proper cheap, never more than 2 grand on a motor for myself. It just a car, white goods (except mines silver like a Bosch washing machine).

yes FF, but don't come back too soon on this one, I can only laugh so much in a week without suffering pain:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
You see, here's the thing about cars. People laughed when I bought the C8, especially my car-boy nerd Bro in law. Despite being made of cheese it's been utterly reliable for it's current 150k miles (OK, the Air -Con has a leak .... but that's par for the course). My Bro-in law has had much more trouble with his lesser milage Galaxies and my other Bro in Law has a 35k mile Mercedes (from new) which is utter junk.
You can never be sure.

I'm afraid it was your exasperation and the pathetic responses of these sales people that made me laugh FF and not the car quality, of which I know nothing:smile:.
Sorry snorri ... wrong end of the stick!
Strangely this is Hartwell's .... same as the Citroen dealer where we bought our Citroens .... they were hopeless too. I might try another brand of dealership. I don't want you splitting your sides!

This can be true of course..
Small company director who supplied us had a Merc ML...the very worst car he ever owned he said and when he got rid, he took GREAT pleasure in telling the dealership he was trading it in for a Peugeot people carrier (high spec one though).
My dad had a Skoda 120 Estelle type thingy from new...when Skoda were the butt of everyones jokes. He genuinely liked the car, regularly drove between Pboro and Northumberland , rarely ever gave him problems.
