That's why you are probably not cut out for sales.

Actually, not cut out for life. Someone saying "sorry for being an arse" would go a long way with me to make up for him being an arse. Someone actually being an arse, without using the word "arse" would be more likely to drive me away.
I think, regardless of a pre-emptive apology any form of arseyness is likely to distance your audience somewhat, especially when that audience really doesn't need the arse giver or their trade.

Similar accusations were leveled at Skoda when I bought my first .....
But to be fair, skodas were a pile of crap until about 10 years ago...apologies to all those who invested before they became trendy.

Skodas market shift has been one of the best that I have seen in my lifetime and has been undertaken by a huge amount of excellent marketing, engineering and design.

The appetite to invest in this shift, over decades... speaks volumes about the firm to me.

To another dealer .....
Oh, I thought. You were emailing dacia direct, then yes please ignore my last...dealers can be lazy non salespeople, mopping up on all of the marketing and investment that manufacturers make and literally waiting for buyers to walk in the door. Any effort in their part to find or encourage sales is generally given up in preference for a visit to the coffee machine and a bit more facebooking

Nb, some of my best friends are...blah blah

I've had my Sandero 2 years.... No problems at all.... Apart from when a girl parked her mini in my boot....took many weeks or the bumper ertc to arrive.

But can't fault the car at all.... Got the 1.2 version which is a bit slow but adequate and my boy racer days are well over... Hope you sort out a dealer that's helpful. Delivery times are quite long I ordered it early in June and it was delivered at the end of August so roughly 3 months

Agreed. Classic brand value building. I think Renault will look to do similar with Dacia. In developing markets Dacia are everywhere and Renault must hope that some will move up to mainstream as well. However I don't see Dacia brand itself moving up in quite the same way as Skoda.

People using the word "arse" during a hospital consultation are likely to be asked to bend over

In between here and there
I think your mistake was trying to be seen as a serious buyer via email. I still think salespeople see internet email contact on a big ticket item as not a serious buyer.
The problem with this is that VAG are a reasonable manufacturer. If Renault want to get Dacia up to the standard of Skoda then they'll have to do that with Renault first. And, seeing as Renault brought Nissan's small car range down to their level, it will be interesting to watch.
Agreed. But recent Renaults I've driven have been nice cars.
I agree, I think Renault can be nice cars to drive. I'm still not convinced though about their long-term reliability. A colleague has a Megan which she's looked after really well but has given her all kinds of stupid problems recently and spent a lot of time in a garage being investigated. My dad had a Renault about 15 years ago which fell apart very quickly.

I know you've had different experiences with French cars.
i've known a good few people do huge milleages in (usually diesel) peugots so French cars aren't all ad by any means

No doubt, but still a massive shift in their market position, which has taken decades of effort.

Update:
Had a very apologetic voicemail left this morning containing the basic information I wanted. I've been in my customers all day so far so not got to follow-up yet. Stay posted ....
