As a 22mph average cyclist just commuting with very little effort, I admit..

I was so fast on my chopper I went back in time. I was captured by Nazi forces working for General Hams Kammler, and I was enslaved abd forced to pedal my Raleigh Chopper as fast as I could to power Die Glocke.

Unfortunately, I pedalled so hard that Die Glocke was propelled through time and space to Pennsylvania in 1965, whereupon my legs finally became exhausted and the device crashed.

I escaped, and then backpedalled so fast I was propelled forward in time to the present day, whereupon I was given a Professorship at Cambridge university and a £1.4 million book deal.

Is that true, or are you exaggerating?

I can't tell.

I plan on an 8 to 10 mph average, to include photo stops, getting pleasantly lost and never, ever passing a cafe without having food and drink.

Strangely there are people who don't want to cycle with me.

I have my Garmin set to auto pause, so that stops are ignored. But climbing one of our local hills, I was going so slowly, that it tripped into auto pause!

Don`t mention the word Chopper. Back in time my brother had a Chopper and I went for a ride on it. I thought that it was awful and so slow. I guessed that the tyres were holding it back. I thought that it would be a great idea to pump the tyres up with a foot pump. I rode again and thought " I`ve cracked it", only thing was 1/2 mile down the road the inner tube in the front exploded. Luckily I had just completed the down hill stretch of road and was on the flat doing a near normal speed. What us teenagers used to get up to. I got the innertube replaced and never went on it again. Lesson learnt !

My bike is fitted with an Infinite Improbability Drive , and when it is engaged, all other cyclists turn into bowls of petunias.

Wot? No whales? Couldn’t have been an ‘infinite’ improbability drive, then.

I get the same. Genetically low heartbeat (my Dad is the same) plus a lifetime of cycling can put my beat down to 40, occasionally as low as 35 when Im asleep. Nurses can get a bit excited during overnight hospital stays, but I just tell them thats normal for me.

I was getting lower than that (ex marathon runner as well as cyclist) but a monitor showed my heart was missing beats and I now have a pacemaker.

A couple of times in the last 20 years, I've been through months of ectopic beats (which are "failed" early beats, although they feel like missed beats), hence the monitoring. But they've gone away now. They seem to be triggered by stress or something in the environment. Not dangerous, apparently, unless they happen about every 10th pulse. They feel like a snagging sensation as you breathe and are quite disconcerting.

Another low beat counter. Have been since a child. And always been very active in various ways. My RHB now is in the low 50’s. And I have slept with a smart-watch on a few times; and that dropped to low 40’s - if not even dipping into the high 30’s once or twice. I’m sure I even had a ‘Warning’ from the device once 🤣

I’m generally a pretty placid guy. And my heartbeat doesn’t really race; other than through exercise. I also know my Lung Capacity is very high. Helped by my height I’m sure (?) Unsure if that large capacity helps contribute to low heart beat in some way…..
