On the other hand, perhaps he didn’t want to commit an income tax fraud.

Interesting that you call someone lazy just because they choose to relax at the weekend!

You attempted a conspiracy to dodge taxes and he wasn't having it.

Tax dodging is greedy and affects us all.

If I was a young man and someone was giving me work on my doorstep I would jump at it.

If you want a sensible reply, try using a font that people can read.
Edit to add - feck
Halfords, I wouldn't use them if they were the last bike shop on earth.

even if it potentially meant breaking the law (or being asked to?). As above, was the young man self employed or there on behalf of a company employing him? If the latter, pricing wouldn’t necessarily be his choice

You do realise that most working people have an employer, rather than being self-employed.

And for them, it is illegal for employers to not give them at least one day a week off.

The vast majority of self employed people will also take 1-2 days per week off, most commonly at the weekend, but not always.

Better than claiming benefits to idle about.
But he wasn’t doing that if looking for work on the books? 🤷‍♀️

I have been both most of my life I have worked 7days a week and proud of it.
Both what?

Is that "I have been both most of my life. I have worked 7 days a week and proud of it."

or....
"I have been both. Most of my life I have worked 7 days a week, and proud of it."

I'm not normally a grammar nazi; but FFS - I can't understand half of your posts.

Edit to add... @T4tomo beat me to it .
