SO excited...the husband and I are going to make the most of our final babyfree Bank Holiday. He's off cycling and I (potentially unwisley at 6 month pregnant) am off on my first solo bike trip to Holland for three days!! Flights are booked - I'm so excited.

My rough plan would be to do about 30 miles per day and to do:

Sat - Amsterdam Utrecht
Sun - Utrecht Gouda (cheeeeese)

Then on Mon, either:

Gouda to Rotterdam via Kinderdijk windmills or
Gouda to Den Haag via Delft

Anyone got any advice on where you'd go?

6 months...oh take it easy...... have fun. 30 miles a day will be fine..thought you'd be clocking up 100.....phew....

PS no bumpy roads, no hot curries, and no hot s?x - ah yep husband not there, and you are in Holland..just watch the cobbles..........

I've just booked a week in Wassenaar for September so i'l be having a nosey at some nice places to cycle to although it wont all be cycling as Jake and my Wife are coming as well

Jake will be up for it but im afraid Jake's Mum is'nt keen on cycling

Sounds like a good route.

As to the Monday options, I'd recommend the Delft route! The ride from Gouda and then on to Den Haag is pretty straightforward, although I think the signed directions b/n Gouda and Delft will take you along the motorway. You can probably find something a bit nicer though. I guess you'll be leaving from the Hoek - it's an easy cycle along the coast from the Hague.

In Delft, I recommend heading to Kobus Kuch on the Beestenmarkt to order yourself some of this...

I have a cunning plan to do the Netherlands on my Spring tour next year. Let me know how you like it.

Cathryn/Rich - Here's a link to the route we followed between Rotterdam and Amsterdam for the sponsored ride I did in June. It might give you some ideas. You can zoom right in.

Pregnancy is not an illness, don't worry there is no need to stop taking exercise just because you are pregnant. A friend of mine carried on cycle commuting (about 7 miles each way) until the day she took maternity leave...

Totally agree....it's other people's faces that make me giggle!!! All the doctors, midwives and nurses who I've been seeing lately have been nothing but supportive!! Other people are most concerned!!

This is my current favourite pregnancy photo....have bike, have bump, have sunshine...life is good...

Cathryn - my sister's a physio specialising in women's things and she says women can keep cycling until the bump starts upsetting their balance. I'm sure you're sensible enough to realise that!
