We are going out today to look for a bike for my wife. This is not as easy as it may at first appear. She is 5 feet nothing and weighs 17 plus stones. She has been doing a lot of walking and goes to the gym so hopefully she will be a bit more flexible now. She has lost about 4 stone and is hoping to find a decent bike. Her problem is actually getting her leg over (or through) the frame. She has a small wheel shopper but would like something a little more mainstream. We went out last year when she was much bigger than she is now and couldn't find any bikes she could get on, so we will have another go today.

I will let you know how she gets on!

Oooh, bike shopping. The only type I get excited about. Have fun and I hope Mrs C finds something she loves. And a massive well done on the weight loss.

If Mrs Compo bought an ebike she could ride with Mr Compo.

She could do that anyway, but the assistance would bring her much closer to his pace and range.

Bit of a waste of time, but not entirely. We have confirmed that she needs a 16" frame with a low step over frame. A pity no-one had one in stock. We received the usual answer, "we are waiting for them to come in". Obviously on a Sunday when so many cyclists are out on the roads most of the cycle shops are closed so our choices were limited. We will try again during the week when more places are open.
