What i found if you have any weights they are like gold dust now with gyms closed they sell for far more than they are worth as soon as they are advertised on gumtree etc.
Surely they are still selling for what they are worth. Its just that their 'worth' has increased in the short term due to supply and demand.

These people really irk me. I tend to reply suggesting that in that case they should adjust the price range in their search criteria.

Anyway good news about the sale. I am looking forward to autumn when these new bikes will start flooding into the second hand market when people realise they are too lazy to use them.

You may well be right.
As soon as any form of normal life returns the bike will be in the shed and the car will be king again.

On the plus side there will be some cracking unused bikes available going cheap :becool:

I'm in the market for 2 additional bikes for me and 1 for the mrs but, am not desperate for them so happy to wait unless I see the right bike at the right price.

I have my Giant TCR Di2 to sell but took it off sale after 1 day when I got several texts just asking me 'whats your address mate' with nothing else, despite the advert listing the area and town of location. Something told me to take it off sale as its probably thieves.

Could have sold my thorn 3 times on Ebay. All failed 2 were to tall 6'2"s. And one wanted it posted despite me putting collection only. Also had someone message me to say it was a lovely bike?
May post as I have a box. I just relisted it for an extra £50 (£1250). Deal on £1 Ebay fee!

The kids Ridgeback 24" went for £122, which is crazy, and my fixie brought my reserve of £200 - bit of a specialist bike.

The tag-a-long is on ebay, and mine appears to be the best looked after one by a country mile. I've had loads of buy it now requests, but seeing the Ridgeback went for 4x what I offered it to a no-show for, the auction can run as it's in near new condition.

Still waiting for both bikes to be collected, the local purchaser has paid for the fixie, but is working crazy shifts, and the Ridgeback purchaser is coming on Thursday, on route to Southport.

I’m being messed about on one sale, planning to cancel if she doesn’t pay up and collect
Then I can relist at the £1 fee (I’m not much of an eBay seller but presumably I have to write a completely new ad to avoid the eBay Gestapo picking up on it?)

Ordered a new Ridgeback Expedition on Thu 14 May 20 and it arrived Thu 21 May 20. Considering the current high demand not bad really. I do however appreciate the delay some people are experiencing. Maybe the swifter delivery was due to either the price or the type of cycle. 🦥🦦

I was in touch with a friend who runs a small bike shop. She tells me they've sold all their stock and their suppliers are not showing anything available for months. Her husband is working flat out all hours in the workshop.

On the subject of weights, I've been using some weights I bought probably 30 years ago or more. They are plastic and filled with sand/cement type stuff. The plastic has not aged well and using them is a gritty experience. They are now re-surfaced with duck tape.

Get her to ask the shop to check the frame thoroughly before shipping as someone else on here bought one recently and it had a small dent in the frame (he kept the bike and got a further discount)

@Corsica_13 can share his experience

Sold my old Carrera hybrid for £10 less than what I paid for it in 2012!! Gum Tree ad put put at 10pm Sunday, picked up by buyer Monday Lunchtime, had another 3 people waiting in line if the first guy didn't show.

The guy I sold it to was clearly going to clean it up and try it on for £200+, good luck to him. More people cycling is only a good thing, am just happy to clear some space in the shed.
