Hi wise ones, Just wanted to pick your brains about the project cyclocross. I ended up buying a Boardman team CX frame 2011/12. It comes with head tube, seat post, forks and bottom bracket. I have done some research on google and as per original specs bike came equipped with SRAM Apex 1 group set with mechanical disc brakes. One option is to go for the same i.e. SRAM Apex 1x11 set up and then source all the required bits and bobs. As an alternative option I am thinking about going with the Aliexpress route and instead take a chance on Chinese groupset manufacturers such as Sensah simply just to keep the build costs down. However not sure whether it’s a safe bet despite very good reviews? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as always. Thanks
UPDATE
Finally mission accomplished….details as per below
New Bottom bracket 30mm bearings installed as well as new bearings in the headset.
Components used(All new)
SRAM Apex 1 Crank 40T -11 speed
SRAM Apex 1 shifters- 11 speed
SRAM Apex1 derailleur-11 speed
Shimano 11-42T cassette-11 speed
Shimano 11 speed chain
Shimano disc rotors- 160mm
Prime Doyenne saddle
Willier SPD paddles
Tifosi Flared Handle bars-42cm
Tifosi Stem-100mm
Wheelset-MVTEK 29er
Schwalbe CX tyres-700x38c
Tour De France Bar Tape
Only hiccup I had was the wheels. As planned I wanted to utilise the Fulcrum DB800 Thru axle wheelset I already had but they had to be shelved as it being OEM therefore no option to covert to QR. Other than that everything went according to the plan and I must admit I learned a lot it being my first attempt.
Now it’s time to enjoy the ride😊
