Tosh. Who's to say any expedition anywhere discovers everything that was there at the time
well they'd be pretty bloody stupid not to.

There is no proof that the fish didn't previously exist, bonjella.

There's no PROOF, no. But there's no proof they DID, either. However there's a likeliness that they didn't, as there's a certain inclination of people to discover stuff if it's possible to. put yourself in the fish's position. If it was, say, 20 years ago, and your aim is to not be discovered. You can teleport yourself to anywhere in the world, OR, you have the option of not having evolved yet. Which option would you choose? The latter, oviously - as that guarantees you won't be discovered.

The rest of the ocean hasn't evolved yet. There's just empty space there.

Presumably because you haven't seen anyone exploring the oceans it constitutes proof that no one has. If you follow the, er, logic of your original argument about fish.
