Perhaps not quite a joke but a funny line.
I am writing a novel and can remember a funny setup that I wanted to use but not copy as it was done originally.
This is what I remember-
Dimwit man has to introduce a woman. Woman has a bit of an odd name that is almost a rude word that matches her attributes – lets say Miss Stitties
Dimwit man thinks he must make sure he does not say a rude word on introducing her.
Then goes to podium and says “And here is Miss Snockers.
My example is not funny and rather lame. I think the original was a play on her whole name so two words and probably ruder that my example which I kept a bit mild on here.
I think it was a substituted or added letter not a spoonerism.
Can anyone remember where it was originally and what the mixed up name was?
It has been rattling around in my brain for about two weeks now and I cannot pin it down.
Thanks.
