I rode what Garmin tells me is my fitness age today.
Thank you. This is very kind of you.Amazing ! Nothing beats good Health and staying active. You’ve won at life. Kudos Sir…..
I'm over 70 and have cycled my age this year.
To maximise the enjoyment I spread it over a week.
Before anyone chimes in with a yeah but, how many TdF winners over age 35?
Hardly comparable to riding your age in miles.
No it was a comment on how fitness declines with age. Which it does.
Well yeah but ability to ride long distances does not decline anywhere close as that needed to win TDF.
Well I'd say it's harder to ride 80 miles at 80 years of age than 40 miles at 40. Aside from double the distance it's the additional factor of reduced ability.
Go ahead and argue as we know you will but I'd say it's pretty accurate.
No one was arguing against that. But the ability does not reduce as much as you seem to think in normal aging. It is a realistic goal for the majority of us here.
At 68 my experience is that I can cycle just as far as I used to however it's the average speed that falls with the passing years -
