That's a terrible suggestion. Within five minutes those teenagers, mats, bikes and dogs will have been converted into a makeshift industrial bazooka that fires steel tubes with sharp teeth and a sullen demeanour but that strangely fail to actually kill anyone.

[QUOTE 3799300, member: 9609"]if it has the 1.6hdi, keep an eye on the injector housings for signs of blow by, some are known to work a little loose, some of the blow by contaminates the oil in the cam over and turns it to sludge, this sludge blocks the filter to the turbo, very expensive. - do a search for "1.6hdi turbo problems"
when you are getting it serviced ask them to check they are tight (don't do this job yourself) - BMW use this engine in one of their small models, I have been told they are checking the tightness of the injectors at service

see this vid on what to look for

It doesn't look to be exactly the same engine, there are a few variants I think but I've just had a look and it all looks OK plus the inspection fella gave the fuel injection system a pass but you've successfully driven up my paranoia levels a bit. I might go and have another look now.

And, perhaps they've changed the design but I can easily change light bulbs, just a cover over the back of the unit.

Reliant kitten estate, tons of room as the teenagers will refuse to get in. Good chance the 2IC will refuse to get in as well....even more room. You can definitely get two bikes in the back with the front wheels resting on your head.

Forgot the dogs, dependent on what breed they are there's a good chance they will refuse to get in but they also have a predisposition to pis*ing on Reliants.

Strange how people hate Fords. I've had 4, 2 Escort estates, 2 Focus hatchbacks that got treated like estates & the OH's Fiesta that I used to sling around country lanes when the Focus was in for servicing. They've all been good cars, inexpensive to maintain.

I've just bought a C Max, with a Ecoboost engine which is amazingly economical which might just be suitable, it's certainly fun to drive, or maybe the C Max Grand with 7 seats. Both on the Focus chassis

We have a Grand Cmax and I really like it.

It amuses me slightly that it is a legal requirement in France to carry spare bulbs, yet none of the cars they make allow you to actually change them

After a 1400 mile trip to France and back, fully laden, floor to roof, 5 people, four bikes on top, I can honestly say I'm very pleased with the car in case anyone is thinking about one or summat. Unlike that @threebikesmcginty I drove on the right as did Mrs Crackle, even when she got back to the UK. Plenty of power for a 1.6 engine, all in all pretty faultless. I've even cleaned it now, so that's it's annual wash and brush done too.
