Central Heating - on yet?

Another one in T-short & shorts this morning; my lounge is 22 degrees.
Will hope to leave the CH off for a couple more months, unless we have a cold snap.

But not yet; I didn't even need a duvet last night.

High or low temperatures don't really bother me. Windy nights, outside, the windows stay open all year round. So the heating doesn't go on.

Im more sensitive to high temps at night but otherwise, for us it's always been bedroom windows open at night 90% of the year, all except the coldest of weather.

Starting to feel the drop in temps in the evening outside, but no, no heating yet. Inevitably having two young children in the house now will mean the heating on more that it used to be for some time...much to my (light hearted) disgust

Have them playing Twister on a nightly basis. It'll warm them up, a bit.

Last night one of my neighbours had their wood burner going. I mean, WTAF? I was walking the dog in short short-sleeves.

I've just used my electric fire for the first time since the summer. The smell of accumulated dust burning off the elements always reminds me of autumn.

Radiators being bled today ready for when the controller thinks it’s time.

Just did mine and then fired up the CH for an hour to make sure all was well. Had to turn the stat up to 23 degrees to get it to fire up. The new system has a weather sensor on the north facing wall.

When I was cycling ~6000 miles a year, and walking another 1000, I could sit in the lounge at 17C wearing shorts & T-shirt. Now, the room is 21.7C and I'm wearing long trousers and a jumper.

The difference is about 900kcals/day on my metabolic rate.

Turned system on to test the radiators.
One stuck valve freed with pliers and GT85.
Turned system off.

All 4 Cat Thermostats are still going out all night so the CH is off.

My cat thermostat has been starting to go out less these last few days. Mind you, my model is rather old, and is probably more sensitive to fluctuations in temperature and humidity than the more up-to-date versions.

I have both an old and a newer model. They are both useless, although the older model hasn't begun her over-grooming regime this year so that maybe says something about the temperature.

My unit does have a good solar sensor however. It's linked to the "I want to go out" app, but only if the temperature levels are acceptable
