Changing front forks

Today I fitted some wider tyres from 32 to 38 and also fitted an adjustable angle stem to raise the handlebars up slightly.

It has made a huge difference and feels much more comfortable now. The fat tyres look fantastic as well

Thanks for all the comments and advice . I don’t think I will change the fork now.

Cleaned and re-greased the bottom bracket on the Galaxy in an effort to remove noise when pedalling. Having failed to cure it, looking at the back wheel next.

I swapped the heavy alloy fork on my 2001 Specialized Sirrus for a steel Surly Cross Check fork and it totally transformed the ride. First time I rode it I thought I had a flat tyre. Best $100 upgrade ever. The bike is significantly nicer to ride.

I have a 7300 FX set up as a tourer and find it perfectly comfortable with 40mm tyres. During winter I fit Marathon Mondials and the bike still feels comfortable to me
