Hi There!

I have bought an old canondale for training. she is a bit of a clunger but i think i should be able to get it running sweet for training. I want to take off all the components and clean them and then get new cables and put it all back on, adjusting the gears so they work better again.

any recommendations on where I can start? any good links for doing this sort of thing?

cheers,
tom

Park Tools http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help, Sheldon Brown http://www.sheldonbrown.com/ or utube for vids are good places to start.

Have you considered how much it's going to cost you in tools?. Depending on quality you could easily spend £150 to get everything off.

I'd start by giving it a really good clean, lube and index the gears. Then see what else might need doing.

tools are never a bad investment. once you have them, you can do the same work on other bikes you will get/have.

If the tool/s to do the job costs the same as the labour to get it done at LBS i would generally buy the tool/s.
