I guess it's an individual thing. Kiwi fruit do nothing for me. It may be old school but I find prunes always come up trumps (and cause a few, let's be honest.)

Probably the same as kiwi. My diet was never good enough, being too much 'fast food'.

Though I always had porridge for breakfast.

I try to keep tinned prunes in the cupboard.

A 100% suggestion Sheddy. :notworthy::laugh:
Also Prune juice if you want rapid action, but don't go too far from a toilet.

I could Write a book on constipation, piles and fissures (anal tears) I had the operation etc
Best advice is drink lots of water through the day. I aim for 8 glasses. fruit & veg.
I find just a teaspoon Psyllium fibre in a half a glass of water in the morning helped me,and I still use it to keep me regular. Neck it down straight away because it will turn to jelly in one minute. Healthspan sell it, but it is a lot cheaper on ebay sellers

I can assure you the cause is usually lack of insoluble fibre. So even if you eat a largle bowl of porridge daily it still happens.
A simple solution is 3 or 4 teaspoons of inulin with your daily porridge.

Near enough guarantees no constipation ever again. Just maybe a daily portion of lentils also works.

Mrs W has chronic constipation which is a result of non idiopathic slow transit bowel movement.
In other words they don’t know why it happens, she has seen numerous consultants but they admit they cannot resolve it.
So every so often it’s blast with various laxatives even combinations of them.
Any natural remedy might work in combination but will have little effect on it own.

I never resorted to laxatives, though I sometimes lost a fair few hours per day.
Inulin also being a prebiotic gave me the incentive to try, though my situation was certainly deteriorating.
I currently pay about £8 per kg so it adds about 10p cost per day.

I know that my case is only a 'study of 1 case' but I have had porridge for breakfast most of my life and whilst that hardly helped, it made it very easy add to add inulin into the regime. Checking my emails it was March last year I started off paying £16 for a 1KG pack. Being on limited budget it was my 'final ordeal' that inspired me to try it, though it being rumoured to being an aid for gut health helped too.
Zero constipation since the day of delivery so for me I am now at about 98% certainty of a 100% cure.

I might add, that lack of insoluble fibre is likely the culprit for a majority of people. The fact that the word 'fibre' is promoted might mean health professionals who are only allowed to follow 'what info out there' do not help.
On an aside, it also turned out that PM2.5 is the main cause of my asthma.

Lots of fibre (oranges are good, fruit not juice), lots of water, move around as much as you can.
I’ve been having issues following anaesthetic and codeine...dulcoease helps ease things out as it were

Yep, codeine blocks me up something terrible...

Highly recommend a couple of spoonfuls of kefir or Greek yogurt mixed with flax seeds. Get the golden flax seeds (Holland and Barrett etc) and grind them up a bit before mixing them with the yogurt - that way you get their protein benefits too. Chuck in a few chopped-up prunes if you have them. Eat it at night to get things moving in the morning.

psyllium husk is great but I don't get on with the powder, it goes too lumpy when I mix with water. Sometimes you can get it in tiny feathery flakes and that's way better. You still have to neck it quick though!
