I boiled a pan of chick peas dry this evening while in the next room consulting an online cycling forum, and after retrieving what I could, was left with a mess of dried-out, mushed-up and slightly charred legumes at the bottom. What to do?

Bit of tahini, olive oil, garlic salt and pepper, some blending and it made a pretty good hummus.

That looks like a meal fit for a ........ @robjh

It would be better with a courgette though.

I did a Vietnamese marinade for grilled chicken thighs once (I think it was brown sugar, soy, lime juice, fish sauce), but it was just too wet and ran clean off the chicken. I threw the lot in a pan to reduce it a bit, forgot about it for about 25 minutes, and the marinade had turned into a fab Asian flavoured sticky caramel glaze.
