Yep. It's a sport/pastime, that is now very easy to make very expensive. Unless you are savvy enough to separate what you actually need, rather than what you want (or have been made to think you want)

The point being made was that it's what middle aged men spend their leisure money on.

Personally I've been cycling since long before I reached middle age and have never seen the point of golf, but I get what they're driving at (sorry, no golf pun intended).

Loved the fact the interviewee managed to get 'n+1' into the conversation, I take it that wasn't anyone off here?

Definitely NSFW, probably not home either - I sent a copy to my MD though!
S'rubbish. You can't take the kids to school or do the Asda run on a 5 iron.
You have to have a car for the golf club carpark and to carry the golf bats in that will go to asda then you can let the kids out with the 5 iron!

It's spread from Velominati 'rules' rather than from CC

Rule #12
// The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
While the minimum number of bikes one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

It's wormed its way into the collective consciousness of cyclists and is as tiresome as the unwillingness of cyclists to write the word 'puncture' in full and recumbent riders referring to non recumbent bicycles as 'upwrongs'.
