They also do big rides, which are usually somewhere exotic. That's just good reading, rather than what most of us are likely to do, but they do give the route and cover how to get there and where to stay. In all fairness, most of the overseas routes don't cost huge sums when you tot it up mind you. Not that I have ever cycled abroad properly.

I haven't bought a cycling mag for years, but I've been tempted to give the re-vamped Cycling Weekly a try. It was essential reading for the clubman back in the day as it carried all the racing results and news of upcoming events, but it gradually declined into a "How to ride a sportive" (Just get on the bloody bike and pedal) and "Which £2000 sportive bike?" paper, just like nearly all the other magazines.

Just walk in to any Tourist Information Centre and ask for routes then, I thought Yorkshire was the global home of cycling now?

I'm sorted for local cycling routes now, thanks. Same for walking. But regular national route maps and write-ups would be the kind of thing that would tempt me to buy a cycling mag.

I have some 2002/3 editions of the Velovision magazines which someone gave me years ago. I still read them regularly and always find something of interest.

He's certainly on the way up. They are also testing the new eight speed Campag Chorus Ergo system, can't wait to try it.
Incidently, it's fitted to a Colnago frame and it weighs in at around 21lbs. That's BSO territory today for a race bike.
