I've just watched the programme on IPlayer. Can I say that I agree with practically everyone on this thread simultaneously? Yes, she was underprepared and there was a calculatedness in the matching of the challenge to her level of (under)preparedness. Yes, the drama came from watching someone struggling to do something that plenty of other people (not me, I hasten to stress) could have tossed off much more easily. Yes, the whole thing will have enhanced her carefully cultivated image considerably. Yes, there were moments when her emotions (or the editing of them) felt as if they had moved beyond simple and laudable raw honesty to something more calculating. And yes, I was in tears at several points watching it and yes I have acquired very considerable new-found admiration for her.
