Are you listening to what I am saying? That's if you can get a parking space. Car drivers will not take any notice of a if it's a charging lamp post or what ever. Hence the reason we will be going down the hybrid route rather then full leccy. That will never happen.

Sadly I agree. Much of the kerbside space is already filled with cars and again sadly, they possibly wouldn't give a damn if they blocked a potential charging opportunity and almost certainly if they were charging themselves, wouldn't move off until they next used the car.
There are 150 houses in my street, NONE have a drive, a very very few could risk an extension lead across the path. (One opposite does but only perhaps 20 or 30 of the 150 could realistically try it)
Some of those houses are HMOs so in some cases, more than one car a household, some households have 2 cars anyway.
Again and again, if people have a drive and even better solar panels, fantastic, I'd be cockahoop, you'd save a fortune.
I have no 'hatred' for EVs, genuinely considered one for commuting as I could charge at work..but in thousands and thousands of households in the estates where I live...its going to be a constant battle to charge.an EV

Cheap Government owned fast charging stations are the answer. Public charging at the moment is like the Wild West, as soon as a quick 30 minute squirt of electricity is cheaper than filling up a small capacity petrol car, more people will convert.

EV’s are still seen as a middle class thing

EV ownership is on a journey (no pun intended) and we won’t get to mass ownership without the infrastructure including reliable and quick public charging that doesn’t penalise those that can’t charge at home.
Like every large change we have to start somewhere and make sure that incentives allow adoption at the right pace.

I bet our predecessors were having the same conversations about the car being for the privileged?

Saw one of these in the flesh during our recent trip to the big apple . It’s fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch hasn’t it ! I have no idea why you would want to drive or own one . I mean they have massive big 4x4 Lincoln’s and Dodge SUVs everywhere you look which if given the choice I’d rather have !
However saw plenty Tesla taxis in the city ! Didn’t see where they are charged ? Assume the parking lots .

But that isn't really a problem. You just need a longer charging lead.

I'll agree with you here.

Why should I, and people like me who don't drive, fund the charging of private electric vehicles?
How many government owned petrol pumps are there at present. How many have there been over the years.

I'll agree with you here.
You've no problem with trailing electric cables along/over a footpath then.

Again, as I've pointed out before, if the lamppost is next to the road you aren't trailing cables over the footpath. If it isn't next to the road, then it isn't suitable for use as a charging point. There are many clever ways that charging points can be added kerbside.

So, if it's not suitable how do you expect people to charge their cars.

The vehicle owners pay for the disruption caused in fitting suitable charging points, kerbside?
If not why not.

Why should I fund public transport I don’t use? Or a health service that I rarely use? Or schools that I don’t use? Can I opt out?
