Now if someone could only work out a way to put pedals on that thing...
A pedal-powered trike? Can't see that working.

Has anyone mentioned the Anglepoise lamp? I've got an ancient one at home on my desk. Like this but black, early sixties I think.

As an edit: You might notice a wheel magnet stuck to one of the springs!
Aperitif, you never fail to amaze me!

As a kid I was fascinated by my Grandfathers anglepoise, all articulation and springs... never a wheel magnet though, that would have been something!

Something the worlds marine engineers always carrying in a back pocket

Sorry, but no self respecting engineer would ever use one of those abominations.

More than once I've heard someone described thus: "He's the sort of man who would use an adjustable spanner." It's not a compliment.

I'll take a wild guess that you've never worked on a ship then. ;)
Agree the correct spanner is always a better option though and wouldn't use one on my bike.
Scenario: remove antenna from top of 50ft mast (thats 50ft above the Wheelhouse) in the present windy weather.
Do lots of paperwork.
Options
1.Clamber up ladder taking every possible spanner size it might be up the mast.
2. Go up, check bolt size, come down, get correct spanner (from workshop, a further 5 decks down) go back up mast.
3. Stick the Bahco in back pocket.

A self respecting engineer would use one of those abominations adjustable spanners but would of course know its limitations and so only use it in a suitable situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
