Need to move on Rob Andrew, first, though. What's he for?
You know, I'd actually forgotten about him I assumed he'd quietly shuffled off when the bloke came from Wimbledon

Hmmm, pity that - looking forward to another dismal summer tournament for England, now they might actually get someone who gives them a chance! Remind me again how many European trophies Harry Rednapp has won? Oh, right...

Well, Capello has won the lot at club level and how far did he take England at the last world cup? Oh, right...

You are such a naive optimist. If only we had more.
I know. Everyone keeps telling me I should look on the dark side a bit more! But it's just me, it's not a question of is the glass half empty, it's a question of is there any lager left in there at all, gimme, gimme, gimme!!

For all the criticism of Capello and the poor performance in the World Cup, this article in the Guardian is worth a read.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/09/the-five-england-capello-redknapp-fa

The Fiver is written largely tongue in cheek, but the points made here are very valid. Sticking with Capello may have been England's best bet, especially looking at his possible replacement. Redknapp may be "The People's Choice", but so was Keegan who had no worse a club record than 'Arry and look what happened there.

Apart from riches beyond the dreams of avarice ( and surely nobody could accuse football folk of that), I can't imagine why any successful manager would want to take on the poisoned chalice of England manager.
(Can you take on a poisoned chalice?)

I agree, once the honeymoon is over the press will make his life a nightmare.

Redknapp and Keegan - "The People's Choice", very true but as far as I understand football Keegan was pretty naive as far as tactics is concerned - something that Harry is a lot more astute I'd have thought.

There is some true about English players not giving it all when playing for England - The are a few national sides that have quite a few players playing in the premier league's middle of the road teams and even in the championship and yet whenever we play these teams we seem to come second best, Sweden is one team that comes to mind right now...... even against Scotland is never an easy task.

Holloway's claim to fame is getting Blackpool relegated from the Premier League from a safe mid season position because he hasn't got the tactical nous to vary what became a very predictable and easy to overcome style of play.

The England job is one where wanting it should automatically disqualify you as unsuitable.

As a Norwich fan I couldn't agree more SJ.

We are endlesslesly compared to them right now as a team no-one had heard of ( because the cosy, golf playing cabal of Lineker / Hansen / Lawro / Shearer etc don't seem to watch non-Prem games.

In reality our manager Paul Lambert beat us 7-1 at home as Colchester manager in the 3rd division 2 years ago on day 1.

We immediately poached him and have been promoted twice to the Prem and occupied a top 10 position for most of the season.

Yet we get endlessly compared with Blackpool - and doom mongerers suggesting a plummet to relugation.

Paul Lambert is probably the best young manager in the country - he's not a Warnock or Holloway who were never Premiorship material.

The "Fink tank" in the Times a few weeks ago showed Lambert had changed his tacitics more than any other Prem manager this season.Holloway was just attack, attack, win the odd game unexpectedly but mainly lose, comedy press interview.

I have read in the past that Harry has little or nothing to do with day to day training and tactics at spurs - the coaches Bond, Jordan, Ferdinand, Allen do all that. Harry's forte is man-management and motivation which is why he stands half a chance of being a decent England manager.

p.s. Sweden were tough to beat but that was many moons ago.

The flagon with dragon has the pestle with the poison, the chalice with the palace has the brew that is true, so no you can't.

Or is it the other way around...

BBC news last night...

Item 1: Some Italian I've barely heard of has packed his job in.
Item 2: Some fat Eric Idle lookalike has not done something he was accused of.
Item 3: 23 innocent people die horribly by being shelled by their own government...

I despair.
What's that meedya newsworthiness ratio again?
1 England football manager story =
6 dead Belgians
50 dead Arabs
100 dead Indians
1000 dead Chinese
1 African genocide
