It's a bit more complicated than that...

Outside the Plough in Hyde Heath, which has a nice and regularly changing line in dry humour.

At certain times of the year (April & late October), to coincide with the http://www.whitbygothweekend.co.uk/ a pub in Egton (about a mile or so north-est of Grosmont, North Yorkshire Moors) has its own sign out
We saw it, when we went up to Whitby, for my 50th in October 2015, but the weekend before 'WGW'

And, the sad state of the SalterGate Inn, at that time

I like the pub i Stratford on Avon that is called the Dirty Duck on one side of ts sign and the Black Swan on the other
The 'Swan' near me is generally referred to as the 'Mucky Duck'
Its new pub sign is reminiscent of the Ribble Cycles logo too - if not visible, please let me know

This is my favourite, from the Vulcan Arms at Sizewell in Suffolk - covers all bases.

Like it,. though it should have had T'Pol on it instead

There was/is still a Vulcan Foundry in Leeds, now the home of a military surplus dealer; http://www.johnsonsofleeds.co.uk/

There is this interesting Pub, on the road from Otley (Wharfedale), at Newall Carr, on the road from the town up towards Blubberhouses
As usual, with the odd names, there's a very good story to it

In Aberford (east of Leeds), once a very important town on the 'Great North Road' (bypassed by the A1, since the late 60's), has what is purported to be the only pub in the Country with this name

There is a pub up here that has 2 names - The Packhorse Inn on Widdop Road is also known locally as 'The Ridge' or 'The Inn on the Ridge'. It is on one of my favourite local cycling routes and not far from the Pennine Bridleway and Pennine Way.

If you ever decide to cycle up there for a pint or two (or more ...), watch out when you ride back!

There are 20% descents in both the Hebden Bridge and Colne directions. I only drank there once and almost crashed coming down this descent on the way back to Hebden Bridge...
