First miles of 2020 done

15 misty miles and one pub lunch. Excellent start to the year!

I got out for a nice 15 miles. Grey and chilly but I like to go out on NYD.

Only one car in the first five miles today. Always a good day of the year to get out and about.

33 chilly miles out to Chipping where I found the café closed but luckily the butcher sold me a coffee and a slice of Bakewell, then back via Chaigley and Whalley. Got home and realised that the spare CO2 cylinder I'd thoughtfully packed had been used. Oh well.

Not much traffic about on my 50 miler today. Was asked to walk a bit of closed road as the village soap box derby was on. Lots there watching and having fun.

To my astonishment one of our guys lead a flat* route on a loop to Ribchester where we visited a favourite café.

54 miles. 16.7avg.

* Until today the only ways I knew to Ribchester involved climbs.

100k ride out to Stowmarket & back to make up for last night.

Caught up with one chap in shorts heading towards Ipswich despite the low single figure temperature - from Strava flyby it seems he'd cycled to Felixstowe, taken part in the Parkrun on the seafront and was on his way home.

A nice easy 50km today to start the year off nicely.

Just back from my first miles of 2020 - only about 16 but off-road with some of the bigger local climbs thrown in. I am now leading a number of Strava segments for this year.

7.5 miles on the nearly deserted path. A few walkers but only one other cyclist. 7C, but with a brisk wind.

It's the Potters Barn near the big car park on Church Street. Run by lovely people who are always happy to see us however many and however filthy we are! Good food, excellent service, the best cake in Lancashire.......and a log fire.

The only place I know to rival the Potter's Barn is Applestore at Scorton. For me they're on par.

My first ride of the New Year today, Thursday , no fixed route , not sure how any miles I’ll do , I’ve been fettling the MtB all over the Xmas week , I’ve finally got my drive chain sorted , well it was all go on the turbo yesterday so now it’s ‘show time ! . Only plan is I’ll end up at the Pub my Lad works in ,

Oh yes next to the playground. We used to go there when GtiJunior was a kid.

The Applestore is pretty good as well, enormous scones and a nice atmosphere, inside or out. We usually approach along the stony lane from the north when riding the Bleasdale Fell circuit.
