"Some good news for Carlisle. Engineers now don't need to shut power off to 5,000 properties after protecting a key electricity substation"
Well done to all those working in such dire conditions
Good man again!I can now empty the Thermos flasks and a 94 year old veteran of the war(who is taking all this in her stride!) can have freshly boiled water with her tea

.Mind you,it just goes to show the value of the web,and also, how out of the loop many old people become through no fault of their own.I went to check on an old lady who lives nearby, only to discover that her phone is dead.It seems to be a fault which has happened at the worst possible time, but has meant that people concerned that she is not answering her phone, have physically checked on her.Blessing in disguise then.I have been wondering all day about those alone, the elderly and the homeless, how frightening all this must be,and how fortunate I am that the only real inconvenience may have been a power cut. What too of those who have been unable to obtain home insurance since 2005 or 2009?Sorry,rambling a bit,-a poor combination, random thoughts and a keyboard !
