Planet X have got one of their sales on at the moment, one item that stood out for me is the Carnac Havra Winter Off Road Mountain Bike/Gravel Shoe of which there has been a bit of discussion about recently:

I've got a pair and at at £59.99 + P&P would say they're a good purchase, I paid £99.99 and have not been disappointed so far.

Not being funny, but I use mine (Shimano) most of the year round. Great for wet commutes, and off road, well, when is it dry enough for summer MTB shoes ?

+1 for Shimano winter boots. Very comfy and very warm.

i tried them and due to my wide feet i would need to go 2 sizes up so the length was too long for me , i have yet to find good fitting boots .

The Shimano boots I've found to be very accommodating in the foot dept, more then normal Shimano shoes, perhaps @fossyant finds the same.

+1 for Shimano boots. I found the dial on Lake ones to fail quickly and Northwave's too narrow.

Just to break the Shimano love, I have a pair of the previous version of teh carnac / planet x winter boots and they are excellent. go up 1 size from normal shoes / trainers though.

Same. Newer shoes, eg XC3 are narrow but the boots are fine. I don't wear thick socks with them as no need.

Yes - go up one size in PX winter boots. There is a lining inside the boot that takes up a bit of space.
Great boots though. Much better than wrangling with overshoes.

It was about 2 degrees on Sunday. 13 degrees on Thursday apparently !
