I'm home now, so it's time to prepare the bike. Since I was up at something like 5-30, theoretically I ought to get my head down for a short while, but I don't think I dare do that, since I'll probably wake up and find it's 1am !

Red hasn't been used since before I had surgery, so the tyres will definitely need a pump up, some oil on the chain, fit all the lights, and fit the magnet for the new cycle computer (red of course).

I'll also have to pack my minimal tool and spares, some nosh, GPS (and I need to load the track onto this), and anything else which comes to mind!

I wonder whether I should fit the laser rear light or not? Unlike the Dinotte rear light, this one does have lasers in it!

Well, the Star Wars blu-ray set is out on Monday, so kind of fitting.....

They don't actually point backwards, they point downwards and produce two red lines, a bit like a portable bicycle lane. I think I should fit it just for amusement purposes!

They are Class 3R lasers however, so do not look into the Laser with remaining eye.

"I say Tim, how very space age!" So, anything you say en route might not necessarily be taken seriously, although it will be 'red between the lines' eh?

('Got them in blue?' muses Ian.)

A great success, I found myself joining Gordon in a kind of sneaky conspiracy of mirth. Every so often we'd work out that we were the perpetrators and beneficiaries of a huge joke, which, for some reason, both the Almighty and Tesco had decided to help along a little. Wonderful stuff!

A top ride, with water adventure,
and I don't think the Super Speedy factor caused anyones eyeballs to come out on stalks (much).

I'm not sure that the same will be said of the quartet of braves who this morning were retracing our pedal strokes, only this time into the headwind.

Unlike Aperitif, I've only done a touch over 100 miles, having chickened out of cycling the entire way home, and after a quick beer at Look Mum No Hands, I even avoided having to deal with Brixton and the rest of the way home, by getting a train from London Bridge. This time I actually managed to find the station without getting outrageously lost, possibly aided by substantially less alcohol!

The ride was immense fun, and we probably had a moving average a touch under 15mph, which isn't too shabby for almost 90 miles. This was aided by a not insignificant tailwind, but for periods we were setting a cracking pace, and the entire ride pretty much stayed together, generally stretching out no more than a couple of minutes. On one of the occasions I stopped to waymark, I didn't even manage to get my foot down before the cry of "All Up" !

We also had no punctures, and no other mechanicals (as far as I'm aware) which is a very rare occurrence. If anyone had one on the way home, that doesn't count.

It was great to be back on Red again, after only using the Kaffenback since I've been back cycling. I was shooting along, and aside from being tired now, from lack of sleep, I've still got plenty of energy for cycling.

The ferry crossing was a little surreal, but a welcome variation, and the ride for me, was a great success.
