... or someone else can convince me that November and December are fit months to be out after dark ...

The unofficial January ride was quite goof fun, despite being a little bit nippy, and a few events, including Davy pringling his front wheel.

I've commended this thread to the newcomers on this month's list. I do so hope that we can keep the 'bawdy' humour in check, and not frighten them off......

I don't see a great problem with the bawdy humour so much as with the convoluted in-jokes - which are great for those in the know, but very confusing and a bit alienating for anyone who's thinking of coming along for the first time. Quite what we could do about this isn't clear though - leave the in-jokes out? Nah. Explain them every time? NAH. Maybe we need a specific in-joke-warning emoticon?
I'm kidding. Bring it all on.

Hmmm, this is mighty tempting but for the Hampshire Bimble the following day... will there be lots of post ride boozing at Whitstable?

Surely your legendary willpower will be strong enough to gainsay the evils of alcoholic imbibulation...

Doing both the boozing and the Bimble? excellent!

I have a similar problem: one of my best friends is getting married on the Friday. Will the whole thing be wrapped up by midnight allowing me to roll up to the start...? Could be tricky!

FYI I had read some of the FNRttC threads and wasn't put off by the in-jokes. I like a good mystery, and figuring them out from the context is all the more fun. I am odd, though.

AND IS A SUBMARINE.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Hmmmm... I'm sure Simon's edited his "no bawdiness" request since I last read it - to remove a double entendre.

I gather this ride is rather longer and stiffer than Brighton, and contains more continuous up-and-down riding. On the other hand it doesn't climax in a stiff peak with a grimace. But there's still the opportunity afterwards for a shared breakfast.
