Mods....if you dont agree with a "part 2" feel free to combine them.
So.....as promised my S.I.L and hubby came round yesterday morning.
They were very keen to plant it in the actual ground and after some discussion a place was selected and commenced to clear it, dig it out and properly prepare it.
Then.......Mrs Dave and her sister had a quiet discussion an announce thier idea which was.........
Thier Mum had died some time ago and been cremated. They could never decide where to put her ashes!!!!
So........in went her ashes along with fertilizer etc. I said "well if that doesnt kill the poor rose nothing will. (I did actually love her very much).
Antway...the ceremony was completed and they did a very good job of planting the rose so problem solved yes ???
No!!!!!
Literally 3 hours after they left there was a knock on the door. It one of our neighbours who had brought us an anniversary present.
Guess what it was :ohmy::rolleyes:
Does anyone know how to plant a 50th Anniversary Rose Bush:laugh:

You forgot to add the ashes of an old well loved lady
There is one across the road that looks a bit frail. I could always ask the question:rolleyes:

Situation is............
1. We are not good gardeners.
2. Its our 50th anniversary this week.
My s.i.l has told us that they have bought us a "special" rose and wish to bring & plant it on Monday.
Its called the Golden Anniversary Rose

Problem/question.......
The supplier advised it needs to be planted in the ground or in "A VERY VERY BIG CONTAINER"..
Now I have googled it and read that it is ideal for containers as it is bushy and grows to 24".
A container is best as our garden is fully established with no real space left.
So... if we go for a container.....how big (in inches/cmtrs) should it be????
You are older than me, do your legs still function?

Two years later is it thriving and ebullient?
Hi.
TBH its not brilliant. 1st year was quite good.
This year I fed it as per instructions but for some reason it doesn't want to flower.
I have no idea what the soil is like.....it looks good.
We have other, old, roses that have never done much but I put that down to us not caring for them eg we never fed them.
I haven't given up though.....I will do all I can to help it.
