Don’t even go there
Serious question.
Will having an authorised dealer swap the components, from new and before delivery, from Tiagra 2x10 to Deore 1x11 void the warranty in part or in full?
Depends if the Deore 1x11 is new, if it’s new boxed shimano stuff, then it would be like for like and I imagine less likely to be a problem for than used; dealer will confirm as they have the relationship with the vendor and the insurance company for liability etc.Serious question.

The answers to these are all subjective so take this with a pinch of salt.Would the 1x11 be noticably better up hills? or will it spin out too much?
Will the 105 be noticably better than the Tiagra (smoothness/accuracy) and will it's 2x11 be noticably easier up hills than the Tiagra's 2x10?
I have asked the dealer, but to be honest he didn’t seem sure.
I’ll contact Giant I think.
I suspect that it may be a bad idea and for any small improvement on hill climbing and simpler shifting (without front mech) I’d be better off avoiding the risk and either going for a bike that comes with a 1x (I.e Trek FX4 Sport) or sticking to the unaltered stock 2x Giant Fastroad Advanced 1 or 2.
Hmmm, good suggestion. You could also pop 1x11 Deore onto this within budget?

@Grant Fondo got to bork at that price tag.. £1100 for microshift 9 speed!!! Would expect at least full sora. But if it’s a donor bike for a better groupset then it’s all relative.
Unless the Trek bowls me over I probably will.
Main decision is if I do go giant is whether I want the conversion of Advanced 2 from 2x10 Tiagra to a 1x11 Deore (40t 11/51) or just the standard Advanced 1 with 2x11 105.
