I bought a bottle of Chillean Merlot tonight in Tescos "half price" £4:98 I wonder if it ever had cost £9.96

At some point we had a tetra pak (basically a Juice Box) of french white given to us as part of an escalating war** of exchanging tasteless tourist tat with a friend. Anyway, poorly translated the serving suggestion was one of the most depressing things I'd read "For cooking or drinking alone"

**I think we won the war when we gave her a kangaroo scrotum coin purse!

I can't be doing with all these "Ersatz" pizzas. hawaiian, tikka and other concoctions, then stufed crusts and whatever. Good old fashioned, traditional Neapolitan and Margharita with a thin base. Mamma Mia!!:hungry:

COLD are you mad - cool yes but not COLD. thats a crime against good beer
Obviously not ice cold. Whilst I know nothing about wine, I do know Ale.

Also, while I'd expect wine drinkers to argue about the temperature, ale drinkers usually live in the real world and don't spend half their life trying to score points correcting other ale drinkers!

Drink what you like, when you like, how you like - save the sanctimonious comments for someone who gives a S**t.

Insult my dress sense, my intelligence or my parentage but not the way I drink Ale :cursing:

A couple of years ago we had a long power cut in my town lasting several days and the pub was included in the outage.

When we turned up for a drink after work the place was almost in darkness except for a few candles. Phil the landlord apologised but said that it would be sorted tomorrow because he'd hired a generator. When we turned up the next night the place was just as dark so we asked him what had happened to the generator. Oh it's here he said, it's powering the coolers in the beer cellar. Now that's getting your priorities right

The perfect temperature to drink beer is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Any colder and you're dead and any hotter, you have a fever!

In my student days I worked in an Italian restaurant. The number of customers that asked for stuffed crust and were disappointed to learn that Italians don't eat stuffed crust was huge.
