Slightly stale hot cross buns. Cut into 2 and spread butter and jam. Put into small ramekin and fill with custard. Into hot oven for around 20 mins. Yum.

A ramekin for hot cross buns, are you mental?!

At that point, we're not talking hot cross buns. We're talking bread and butter pudding, which is a whole 'nother level of excellence!

You've found the hidden treasure. I like the M&S luxury ones. All others since are a pale comparison that I can't go near!

They also sell the M&S ones all year round...

I make my own. Much better. The store ones are always too fluffy and lightweight. A hot cross bun needs a bit of substance. Especially if you are going to use the leftovers for a pudding... the only problem around here is that currants are not so easy to come by and I had to end up using raisins and sultanas this year.

love hot cross buns, cold with butter on, toasted and buttered and even with a dab of jam if the mood takes me.

At the other end of the spectrum, I absolutely loathe the smell of Kippers xx( horrible smelly things that seem to stink the house out for days...............my Mrs loves them.
