Maybe but that sounds like the saddle is the wrong shape for your thighs, tight lycra might help hold things in a bit and the rubbing will be against the fabric not your legs, especilaly if you are on the larger size.
Also, if you do get some, wear commando, pant seams will rub
Yep, sounds like the saddle is probably too triangular and a more T shape one is needed. Padding doesn't cover the thighs, so seems unlikely to help, but the Lycra corset effect might... up to a point. If it's holding you in, the seams will probably cut into you on a long ride... but I'm biased against padding because it's been no better at best for me and sometimes much worse

I know someone who has worn muddy fox padded tights. They were OK but the pad is definitely flat, fairly thin and unsculptured and they don't last for long.

Dhb shorts are not horribly expensive and much better quality than sports direct stuff.

Ooft, that is a lot! I just use the "Classic" ones which are £45. Last pair I bought was £35 I think, around 18 months ago.

I'm thinking of going to the classics, though the "DHB shorts" are £20 and look identical to the classic. I keep waiting for them to do a 50% off on the Aeron but they haven't reduced them for age.

I would happily recommend them!

Just to reiterate what's been said above, you don't need padded shorts if your saddle fits you and is comfortable. I regularly do 65+ miles in jeans.
