How far do you drive a car each year

Having just had my car's MOT, it listed the mileage at each MOT. So I could work out the annual mileage.

2016 6,242 miles
2017 7,983 miles
2018 4,947 miles

It is generally on a downward trend from previous years. What kind of mileage are you driving each year?

Around 6k-8k miles now. Gone up in last 3 years due to now driving to work. Not as bad as when it was 18k.

Commutes are around 4k, then the rest going up and down to our caravan.

My Sept 2012 car has done around 23.5k miles only

I have a 2008 car and it has done less than 18,000 miles. Its a diesel, so its only just run in! It is useful, being an estate, for picking things up (like bikes from Mr Biggs) and for my fishing gear and the odd bit of furniture.

I have a bus pass, so its easier to nip into town on the bus really. No stress, no parking worries and the bus runs every 12 minutes.

Hardly use it, but my ederly mother lives 80 odd miles away, so if i have to go and see her it's there ready to go. It's an expense i don't really need but hey ho.

So that's 21,600 miles before I even add private mileage.

I don’t have a bus pass, but it’s still far cheaper and easier to use public transport / the bike / a mixture of the 2 I find.

About 1300 miles between MOTs. 8 or 900 of that is search and rescue training and callouts. If it weren't for SAR I wouldn't bother with one at all and would use one of my motorbikes for any occasional long haul.
