In the last few weeks I've been doing 15 - 25 miles several times a week; usually very slowly! I've done 138 miles this week, which is far more than I was doing 2 months ago.

As with the OP I find it difficult to do more than this - unless I have a very specific goal. And, of course, at the moment I'd be reluctant to set off knowing that mechanical trouble too far from home would involve returning by public transport, which apart from everything else, is less frequent than usual. Looking forward to the return of CalMac ferries and the chance to hit some of the islands nearer home (Glasgow).

The toughest bit of going long, is the mental drudge. I make my long routes as interesting as possible, as far as route and scenery are concerned, and it makes it easier. You have to be able to turn the urge to quit down.

Must admit, a wee day round Arran with a pit stop at the Velo cafe would go down well right now. :okay:

We even hatched a plan for the 5 ferry thing as soon as we can.

I live in the Aire valley and can go a long way without hills I can go east to Leeds (a 22 mile ride) along the canal, this trip normally involves beer. Or if I go west, I'll do Skipton or Gargrave (a 45/55 mile ride) breaking the canal monotony with some hilly loops off if I feel like it. When I am feeling giddy, I'll head over the moors to Ilkley, that's only about 11 miles but it breaks my balls & sometimes I'll go to the pub so that I have to catch the train back.

In general i'm not that interested in how far i ride although week day rides are typically 50-60km and weekend up to 100-120km, more relevant to me is metres climbed and i target 17-19m for each KM covered. Trying to get that up to +20m p/km

I really miss my normal cafe stop. Doesn't seem the same somehow.
It's not the same, but I have gone on new rides recently because I'm not limiting myself to routes with a cafe. A thermos of coffee in the Blackdown Hills is a good substitute for a cafe.

I have two types of rides. One where I’m back for lunch, and one where I am not. I’m an audaxer and enjoy riding long distance. But audax suspended since end of March.

My lockdown rides have settled down to 50-60km or 100-130km. The former back late morning, the latter early to mid afternoon. I’m doing two 100km rides per week (mixed with shorter ones on other days) at the moment. Mostly collecting VeloViewer squares or meeting fellow Audaxers in neighbouring counties.

I did start on a 210km ride a couple of weeks back when unlimited exercise was announced for England. But I am trying to be completely self sufficient at the moment. I find 130km is roughly the limit for how much water I can reasonably carry to stay hydrated. Food less of an issue.

I do miss the pub or café stop. But a local village pub has started doing takeout draught beer and pizza. You can consume them on the village green. So things are looking up.

I must admit, Mrs Slick and I have done the same often but I did a decent 50k on my own today and I'm not sure if I missed her more or her tuna and onion sandwiches.

At this time of year my buddies and I are doing a Wednesday evening hooligan ride, finishing in the pub, which is a hard workout followed by an enjoyable bit of socialising. Not so this year though and TBH I'm a bit bored with doing the same old rides on my own.

Reading the posts from you lovely people, I noticed that most of you do regular rides of 40 miles plus and it is giving me a bit of a complex as the majority of my rides are under 30 miles. I have the time to do longer rides but after a while, I feel it is time to head back home and I do. It always happens within 2 hours of riding.
When I go over 30 miles , it is when I set my mind to go to a specific place which I know will take me past that mark but it isn't often.
When you set off, do you know in advance where you are going to go and how long you are going for?
Don't get hung up in mileage just enjoy. I enjoy big miles but there's always some one bigger. I like to have a target distance or time or place or speed or power to aim for (some times a combination. Most of my routing is adhoc though as I enjoy the freedom also :okay:

My average during the week is 20miles getting up before work for a cycle is a balancing act as I don’t want to get up too early and get knackered for the day.

weekends I try for min 40miles, my plan/hope was for a 100mile ride this year

I do two sorts of rides...

Solo as fast as I can rides...usually 1.5 to 2 hours. These are to build up fitness

Usually with buddies (but not always) rides of 4 to 5 hours. These are sociable but we always come back knackered as we can't resist a bit of competitive hill climbing
