After re-mortgaging my house and reviewing all my finances and doing some maths etc, looks like I can retire, quite comfortably, at 55. That`s when everything seems to come together and would be a good time to make the break. Yes it`s 15 years away, but I`m actively looking forward to it, and it`s a short time compared to the unlucky sods that are just leaving school now.

Being active, I`ll always be busy, and even when I`m trapped indoors I have plenty of wet weather pastimes.

I can`t wait!!^_^:okay:

If it all goes to plan, I can ditch full time wage slavery at 55-56 debt free and find something to keep me meeting people and sociable in between bike rides and indeterminate pottering.

I have precisely 43 years to go... Already done 10 years.

Nineteen months till I draw my pension. I'm lucky in having a job (Two jobs as it happens) where I can do whatever hours suit me, so though I'll cut back I won't retire while I'm still fit enough to work. I'm out and about over west Pembrokeshire in my main job and I would miss it, daytime TV doesn't appeal.

Our mortgage will be paid off in 3 years (or less) and by that time I will be 53. My private pension of which I have paid into since I was 18 will mature when I am 55, but I will probably leave it in situ and carry on adding to it. I was planning on retiring at 55 and probably could if I wanted. But we have made some good choices at work which we are hoping will see us making some good money whilst doing reduced hours so will carry on, as the thought of not working does actually frighten me a little. That and having (by the time I am 55) an 11 year old to look after and pay for. I will no doubt need more income to pay for the blighter as he grows.

I retired at 33 or 28 years ago, I enjoy what I do every day and draw a nice wedge for doing so, I would not call it work such as I did with my car sites.
