Schwalbe Marathons/ Panaracer RiBiMo or similar eurethane protected tyre - combined with Stan's no Tubes sealant in the tubes.
Tada!
No more punctures.

I'm running Schwalbe marathons at the moment (the "green guard" version, can't seem to find the old kevlar ones any more). Next puncture I'll bring out the big guns and get some of this sealant - thanks for the recommendation!

I don't ditch mine , I just never get around to patching them .... I've got loads of them hanging in the garage ....

Put them in a box and post them to me - clear some space in your garage:thumbsup:

Please let us in on the secret!! I've been plagued by punctures recently  Too much hedge cutting along the roads and riding through blackthorn trimmings...

To the OP, I have four patches on my back tube atm. If all of them are holding OK, I have no qualms about adding more as needed. As a few others have said, I'd replace the tubes based on age/perishing rather than on the number of patches they have.

Yes, yes I am  If they were available, I would be sorely tempted to get solid rubber ones and sod the weight and bone juddering ride!
Stans stops Hawthorne punctures, I know that for sure as I just changed mine and there were 7 large thorns all the way through on the back tyre alone.

You can't avoid these:- Wheel off, tyre off, tube out, find cause of puncture and remove from tyre, tube in, tyre on, wheel back on bike.

Repairing the tube is an extra 15 seconds - peel backing off Park Tools glueless patch, stick it on.

Experience since they came out: 100% effective first time every time. The tube in my runabout bike's front tyre has 2. They date from 5 years ago, before I put marathons on the bike.

I carry spare tubes for use out on the road as it's easier, and glueless patches in case I need them as well. Not repairing the tubes when I get back would just be horribly wasteful.
