Yes, its horrendous, not just uncomfortable, plain dangerous, I have seen a couple "fixed" but it was only because you could loose a small car in them, a lot of the surfaces were horrendous before this weather, now, sometimes the bridle paths and off road is smoother.

There was a really bad stretch between Epping and Thornwood, the entire carriageway was just like a cart track. Came along there on Sunday and the whole road had been resurfaced. An excellent job they had made of it. I wonder how long it will last.

Council to spend £1.8m less on roadworks this year.

This is a headline from a Lincolnshire newspaper. Personally the roads in Lincolnshire make for very good cyclo-cross training.

One road I cycle along looks like its been hit by a cluster bomb !
but they have drawn around them with aerosol so hopefully in a few days they are filled, trying to see them when there is no street lights makes a for a fun 500 metres !

utterly terrible, I've seriously considered giving it a rest for a while

I've reported as many as I can, one on the crest of London Bridge was 'fixed' within 48 hours, a week ago, and it's already worked loose again

The road surfaces on the island are terrible in general but foolishly I thought I'd go "the back way" to work on Monday, the Isle of Wight is beautiful but there were whole stretches of road where I couldn't look at the scenery as the road surface seemed to be entirely missing.

It's getting ridicalous. More like join the dots the number of holes in the road.

Cambs Council send some contractor out, they then chuck some warm bitumen from the back of the truck toward the general area of the hole. Truck then drives over bitumen a few times. Job done, I think not .

I definitely have seen some being fixed fairly quickly around here at the moment... and other areas seem to be undergoing investigations... they seemed to drill lots of holes into a concrete road ... which I'm hoping is because they are considering replacing it.

The majority of the new ones have been filled in here, just lefr with the usual suspects now.More common to me are the sunken drains,or just awful road surfaces that leave you longing for a full susser instead of a nice light bike:angry:

I dream of roads are smooth as those. Just look at any of my recent videos.

I agree with BM, the original post comes across to me as a thinly veiled advertisement.

Yup I'd say thats about apot on. Apart from the fact the truck is only allowed out for 10 hours per year!

Sorry if it looks like an advert, its true I work for them but I thought I could spend company time making something useful...! I've been riding over that stretch all winter and each week it just gets worse. I've decided I'd save a clip before they get round to filling them in! If you want to film your own potholes though you are welcome to use any other camera brand

How many holes did you count? I got about 40ish depending on just how big that big one is, thats roughly 1 for each second of the video!

I use the car to get to work but there are some really deep potholes on my journey that I wouldn't even want to go over in the car, let alone on a bike.

Some of them are so deep and with such a sharp edge that I'm pretty sure that at best you have a pinch flat, at worst you would be over the handle bars.

I've heard that if they are reported to the local council then generally they get repaired quickly (no doubt becasue they dont wont to be sued). I'm going to have a go at reporting some and see how long it takes for them to be fixed.
