Contactless is faster. I suspect most card payments rely on internet connections, which are generally shoot outside cities and large towns in the UK, but it's only checking a random sample of contactless ones and uploading the rest of them in batches later. I could be wrong: I work with payment systems but online so no contactless. One of the claimed benefits of paying with cards is that it's supposed to be easier. But why is it so damned slow? Every time I'm queueing to pay for something and the people in front of me are paying with cards, it always takes longer than to pay with cash.
