A cyclist berated a scooterist this morning for veering into the cycle lane at a set of lights and cutting up said cyclist. The cyclist shouted something like "watch it - this is a cycle lane". Nothing rude or offensive. The scooterist, summoning up all his wit and wisdom, perhaps rolling out a phrase he had been crafting for some weeks in case he came upon this very circumstance, sneered "Oh really!"

Bravo sir. That really put the cyclist in his place.

aye, it was me then!

i got passed by a scooter going north over Blackfiars bridge. The traffic was backed-up at the lights so he or she used the cycle lane to cut to the front of the queue (happens all the time here...nightmare of a junction)

what cheesed me off though was the scooter rider unexpectedly stopping in the cycle lane to let another motorbike out. Having to brake suddenly in the wet conditions didn't exactly enamour them to me...

its on camera but doesn't make thrilling viewing...

The last couple of mornings; which have been fairly unpleasant for two wheel travel, I've been behind the same motorbike from Crystal Palace to Elephant and Castle and it's been a pleasure to follow GN03 HDE despite the general greasiness and diesel. However, some other motorcyclists who are obviously tip-toeing around themselves have given me no room whatsoever. Overtaking a cyclist, and then cutting in while braking as much as they dare to keep their own stability is about as stupid a manoeuvre as I can imagine. Twice this morning I was travelling down the road with neither of my wheels rotating staring at the brake light of the motorbike that had just cut in front.

I did get my own back though...

+1 on the greasiness. The dry Sept, a couple of wet days and the accumulated diesel have made the roads slippy. I've lost traction a few times out of the saddle this week.

A greasy, leafy gruel coating the roads is not far away either...

yup. the standard of riding you see from some learners on scooters is truly appauling. If there's a group of road users that need better training and education it's this lot..!
