That's it, i'm giving it up! This afternoon i had my third off of the year. This time is was my fault, i hit a speed hump at a poor angle and came off. The front wheel turned right i went left and hit the ground. Once again my helmet took the force and my safety glasses also broke in the bump. My knee is cut open for the third time this year(god knows what my physiotherapist will say on Thursday) my knuckles are cut and skinned and my left thigh feels like it's been hit with a baseball bat. A nice couple came out their house to help, with tea, plasters and the offer of a lift to the hospital. I thanked them but declined the hospital lift then made my way home.
So as from now that's it no more riding the roads on 23mm tyres thinking that i'm in the TdF.no more whizzing round bends, no more ascending hills at 40 odd mph..it ends here! The Cube bike i bought last week is still in the box. I hope Chain Reaction Cycles have a returns policy, I'm just glad i didn't take it out the box and it was the new bike i crashed today and not my old bike. I've decided to get myself a hybrid or a cyclo cross bike and do a bit of off road at a slower pace. I can't risk it again so here's to 30 odd years of roadie happiness it was fun!!
