Get a tag along or another suitable addition to the bike depending on age/size of said sprog...I start to dislike m riding on my commute having to take the same route every morning its then I change my route. I need to do this tomorrow. Bugger its my turn to take the sprog to school tomorrow.
Or given just starting out, perhaps try a SkyrideRiding is more fun if you have some buddies. Join a local club.
I don't know if cycling clubs do sub 10 mile rides however which is about where the OP is at from other postsOooof.... joining a Skyride will certainly teach you the skills needed to swerve round small children and brake hard to avoid muppets who cut across in front of you.
Nice clubs do. There's a 1 hour ride (maybe 6 miles) this evening (and second Thursday of each month), 7pm South Quay, King's Lynn for example... or there's a similar ride on the last Friday of the month at 6pm from outside the Mill pub on Mill Lane, Cambridge.I don't know if cycling clubs do sub 10 mile rides however which is about where the OP is at from other posts
Anyway, bike handling in a group is a useful skill to practise before joining a fast tight-formation group which might contain someone who's not as good as they think they are...I never had an issue on the few group skyrides myself, just keep away from the kids (my general motto in life)
